CROWDKILL

BY ERIC TRUDELL
DIRECTED BY JOBINA SITOH 司徒加恩

MAINSTAGE PRODUCTION

Austin and James are best friends. They are even in a moderately successfully punk rock band together. That is, they were, until Austin accidentally killed James in a mosh pit at a concert.

Now, Austin, Wolf, and Bea have twenty-four hours to finish writing the follow-up to their critically-acclaimed first two albums – with a national tour just around the corner. And with their (former) bass player’s head caved in, Austin enlists his younger brother, Casey – a prodigy at the cello – to fill in on bass for the album and the tour. But Casey has other aspirations for his life. And so does Emily, Austin’s girlfriend who is roped into being the band’s manager.

Can they force creation on a tight timeline? Is this actually the life they want for themselves? And how bright can they shine before the eventually burn out?

Crowdkill is a daring, punk rock new play about violence, guilt, forgiveness, and the sacrifices that must be made to be an artist in the twenty-first century.
