Stagepunk Theatre is looking for non-union musical theatre actors to perform in our concert workshop of Funeral for the James Street Taco Bell by Eric Trudell, a new midwest emo musical, presented from September 9-11, 2026.
 
About the Show
"It’s the night before Brian leaves for college – and the first time he’s moving away from his hometown at all. To celebrate this milestone into the newest phase of his do-nothing life, he’s throwing himself the ultimate going-away party. There’s just one catch: Brian told all his friends that he’s leaving at the end of the week in order to avoid any sentimental goodbyes. But, when his best friend Tucker – the only person who knows the truth – accidentally lets Brian’s real moving date slip, April and Jaz are not happy to learn he was trying to leave quietly. Especially since Brian and Jaz have been hooking up since the beginning of summer.

All of this is made worse by one serendipitous coincidence: the Taco Bell from Brian’s formative years – the only one in town – burns down on the same night as his going-away. In the aftermath of the party, Brian must face the fact that his hometown will never be the same, even if he tries to come back. And, even worse, that he actually cares about his friends a lot more than he’s willing to admit.

Requirements
Please submit a recent headshot, theatre resume, and a self-tape for consideration.
 
Self-Tape Details
Self-tapes should include a 60-120 second video of you performing a contemporary (2000s and later) musical theatre song, as well as a slate including your name and where are you located.
 
Compensation
Actors will be paid a flat fee of $100.00 CAD for their participation in the project.
 
Auditions
Selected actors will be offered an in-person audition to meet with the production team and perform a brief monologue or scene. In-person auditions will be held in Toronto on Sunday, August 9th.
